Heinrich Kley

I have recently fallen in love with the drawings of Heinrich Kley.  You can find a great collection of his ink work at The Art of Heinrich Kley.  Also, there seems to be some portfolios here, and even a youtube video.  It makes total sense that he hung out with Albert Hurter and Walt Disney was a big collector.

The Difference

Steven LaRose, From Whence Arise Diversity of Sects (phase two), 2012

I recently purchased a new Canon camera.  I chose to keep my right arm and my left leg.  It was totally worth it, however.  This lens makes my new paintings look like the mammoth doodle orchestrations that they are.

What Have I Done?

Steven LaRose, Towards the Door We Never Opened (phase two), 2012
I had to buy a better camera in order to take pictures of these bigger (36 x 80 inches) paintings.  Whoa. The resolution is brilliant.  Now I need to upscale the lighting or wait for overcast days.  But for now, the uneven light spread is just fine because this painting won't look like this in two hours anyway.  I thought it was charming enough for the moment however, and I was itching to test my new camera.

The Dead Flat Mistints (a new series from Steven LaRose)

Steven LaRose, From Whence Arise Diversity of Sects (the original Gestalt of it), 2012

Steven LaRose, Towards the Door We Never Opened (in its infancy), 2012

Today I started two new paintings.  Each of them are 36 x 80 inches.  I am thoroughly jazzed.  I usually am not a fan of "in progress" images as they seem to be about something else other than the finished painting.  But then it occurred to me, "These paintings are totally orchestrated, and they need to be animated".
