My First Painting For the post-Mayan Calendar

Steven LaRose, Mother Nature's Mirth, 2012, paint on wood laminate, 36 x 80 inches

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

This is what my newest and bestest painting looks like when I squint.

Steven LaRose, Mother Nature's Mirth (in squint mode), 2012
paint on wood laminate, 36 x 80 inches in real life.

Cell Phone Back Burner

Have you ever noticed how "2012" makes a circle when you type it?
Totally Mayan.

I call this, "Cat Jumping Out Of Tree From Light Saber"

The house I am living in and the tree the cat jumped out of.

Have I posted this picture before?
In order to take this picture (even though I am holding my daughter's toes with both hands), I had to prop my iPhone on my face and push the shutter button with my tongue.

I like arranging other people's fridge poetry.
These two words trigger a high school prom awkwardness.

 So cool.

At the Atelier of Whiting Tennis.

While Seattle was showing off their sky the other day,
I saw this in Ashland Oregon.

I Haven't Ruined a Painting in Years

Steven LaRose, Mother Nature's Mirth (detail) (in progress), 2012
paint on wood laminate, 36 x 80 inches (not to scale) (lighting conditions may vary)

The Universe is random
There is nothing random when I paint, and
That is what makes it abstract

I paint because it is the only time that I really know what I am doing, even when I don't.
