I'm glad you posted another view of your studio. For some reason I had you working in a cramped basement. I added a mirror and a work table to my studio this evening. The mirror has a gilded frame.
I want to go work in Steven's studio. This shot of mine was quickly staged. I was in the middle of doing wall finish samples, hence all the yogurt containers.
That doesn't appear cramped to you? I hate having to work around day job bits. Shelves stacked here, doors over there. I was just re-looking at Carla's pic and noticed what I thought were universal colorants or tint bottles? Also the spray bottle, which I have to always be careful that I'm spattering a piece of furniture and not overspraying onto my fine fine art. I had big plans when we moved in to really keep the space austere and inviting. I wanted to entertain guests down there. I still have the antique wall paper picked out. . . oh well. As far as mirrors go, I went to visit a portrait painter's studio here in town and he had a mirror opposite his stage so that he could turn and look at his painting and the model in reverse. It was a cool. I didn't have the heart to tell him though that all I have to do is turn the painting upside down.
Your studio looks orderly to me. Universal tints, yes. I am growing weary of having to rearrange dec painting supplies in order to paint. I knew someone who looked at his paintings through binoculars, turned around so the work was further away.
I usually opt for the ole bend over and look between the legs. sometimes one gets a head rush as a bonus.

Carla's essay was really nice.
