The Last Day of Painting Class

Too Much Information

With two skylights installed, two pocket doors configured, and two new light switches wired, I hung the first piece of sheet rock on the ceiling. And boy, are my arms tired.

The first painting of a new suite

Steven LaRose, Omeed, 2009
Oil on wood, 14.5 x 11.5 inches

I have 13 panels prepared for this next suite. I can already tell that the increase in scale, although small, will require me to rearrange my studio. I can no longer work sitting down on horizontal surfaces as I now need to be able to not only step back, but to careen back to various points of view. I am officially dancing with the surfaces now.

Dink Lump Light, I should be painting

The other day, Tracy Helgeson sent me a link to Exquisite Abundance. I can totally see why. This blogger in Paris has a hand like mine when it comes to figure drawing. I may not keep the bookmark, but it sure was a nice place to visit.

Harold Hollingsworth
passed through town the other day. Boy, did we ever talk. A common theme flittering about the conversation was focus, or staying power, or sticking to your guns, or an avenue of pursuit that can challenge an individual to their dying days. That is why he bookmarked this Milkshakes video above.

I've had the ArtBabble link bookmarked for awhile. I finally decided to delete it. The image above is of Brice Marden's video. It was the only interesting one I looked at. Well. . . it was the ONLY one I looked at. But my instincts tell me to move on.

I got the image above from the NYPL Digital Gallery which provides free and open access to over 700,000 images digitized from the The New York Public Library's vast collections, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, photographs and more. I think that I'll keep this bookmark.
